been a while …

It’s been a pretty crazy month. I thought I was gonna have quiet holidays and turns out it got quite busy.

It starts with my new office. And my friend’s funeral. And of course, my friends Adrianne & Justin’s video editing. Not to mention we found a new apartment to move in to. Then, I got a call to work on TV drama for a couple of weeks. Don’t forget the 3 Christmas parties that I HAD to attend. :-) )

This might be the indication of what it’s gonna be in 2010. BUSY. I don’t mind that as long as  I make enough money to feed my baby. I have a feeling that 2010 is gonna be an interesting year. 2009 has been a tough and weird year.

Those Christmas parties I went, I think I heard keywords for 2010. Conspiracy and Afro. 2010 is gonna be an very interesting year, I bet.

They are married…

11/29/2009 at 9:13 am (Uncategorized)

Just 7 days ago, my friend Adrianne and Justin got married. The night was full of joy and happiness. It reminded myself why I chose to do wedding videography.

And now, as I’m checking all the shots we got, there are so many moments that bring tears in my eyes. Very fulfilling job isn’t it? I’ll upload some stills from the video soon.

And also, I finally got my own office!! It’s a very small office with one of the wall painted in blue and the rest are white. But it’s just an ideal size of the office for me. I’m super excited about this. Things are coming together.  I can hear it!!

I didn’t mean to write that below for the blog. It all came out from my fingers… Bad fingers…

Anyway, I had my parents sent me an 8mm film camera from Japan a while ago. It looks so old and dusty. I was gonna check it out today and took the used-to-be leather cover off. It still looks so old and dusty. I even need some sort of solution to wipe off dust.

But surprise, I pushed the run button and it ran! I guess the battery is not dead after 10 years. Before I came to the States, I played with it a little bit. It worked and produced the decent images.

It has zoom lens and it does zoom in and out. Focus is working. Just dirty lens though. The viewfinder is again dirty but I can see through it.

And I encountered the problem. Couldn’t open the camera body where you’re supposed to insert the film. This is the main part of shooting film camera. There’s a latch that needs to be turned 90 degrees to open but this doesn’t turn at all!

This will be my tonight’s project after the meeting with Justin and Adrianne. Oh, by the way, I’m shooting their wedding this weekend. It’ll be great. I”m excited. And reason why I started checking this camera out was because I wanted to test this camera for their wedding. Some videographers use 8mm cameras and they all look great. I simply wanna do it too. Why not, right?

I hope I don’t break this camera…

Again, another blank days …

How do people catch up with all these social networking sites these days?

You have emails, blog, facebook, twitter, google alert, and one link takes you to another interesting article which has a link to funny youtube video. And this guy has more funny videos, which you wanna share with you friends at facebook, where you find a message from your friend. Reply to that. She happens to be online so you start chatting with her. That’s when you get a text message from you friend, saying you should check out this cool website where you find …

And when you look away from the screen, it’s dark already. You didn’t waste your time because you were social-networking. Right?

It doesn’t take time to jump around all those websites. It just takes time to come up with something cool or funny to say. So  I guess my brain needs to catch up to speed. I don’t think it’s because English is my second language. If I was using Japanese to all these sites, it’d take a longer due to huge list of vocabulary.

So I guess sometimes it’s good that you don’t know too many words.

is it?

Showit is sweeeet!!

11/04/2009 at 9:10 am (Uncategorized)

Matthew Saville Photography(www.matthewsaville.com)’s Matt told me about this website/software/online service. Wow, it’s just amazing. I made a pretty good looking website in like 30 minutes!

Well, of course, there’s no real contents and it was a free package so their ad shows up at the bottom. But if you’re starting your website from scratch, you should absolutely use them, I think. Well, it’s a little more expensive than regular web hosting services but you don’t have to hire a web designer and I’m pretty sure it saves your time even if you are building your own website.

Yeah, I’m one of them who’s trying to save money by building my website from scratch. But I bought one-year from my web hosting company already. So I am going to try to put up something of my own.

If I’m still not happy with my site in a year, I will definitely go ahead and use this service. I love Flash and it just looks so stunning and fun to surf the Internet.

Well, see what happens…

Dear Diary…

Today, I glanced at FCP, thinking what’s the story behind this video. Started watching each clip and that put me into sleep…. ZZZzzz

I sorted out the mails, activated my new credit card. That’s pretty much it.

Gotta get used to this!

10/17/2009 at 8:07 am (Uncategorized)

So, I forgot about this blog for a little while. I gotta get used to this.

Well, some people do blog for almost everyday with pretty long post and I don’t know how they’re doing it. Are they getting paid a lot for blogging? Maybe …

And here in the States, people post kinda long one, don’t they? I sometimes read blogs from Japan and they usually are pretty short. Pretty short and I like it.

Maybe I should make this a short blog.

Anyway, my company, Odin VideoPro, did a first shoot for “Say I Do at the Muzeo: The Launch” event. It was a wedding expo where bunch of vendors get together and showcase their services so that all the future brides come and check them out.

It was raining until like 30 minutes before the show started. And we had so many guests? customers? people? prospects? but I had a good time. I just have to put together a nice promotional video for Michelle from Mele Amore. I have to thank her for bringing me onboard as well as Alice from Alice Hu Photography.

But for now, I’m off to Las Vegas for a quick vacation.

Ciao!

“Forrest Gump” is awesome. “Big” is good too.

09/27/2009 at 6:01 am (Uncategorized)

Well, I’m starting my blog here. I did the blog before on Japanese site but didn’t even post twice there. I guess I didn’t really have a purpose there.

But this time I do have a purpose here. It is to let my prospects know who I am and what I do. So what do I do? I am a wedding videographer now. And also, sort of an owner of this company.

This is a very interesting time of my life but I’m actually enjoying it. I do feel pressure and do get nervous probably 7 times a day but hey, “Life’s like a box of chocolate. You never know what you gonna get.” right? And also, I like starting something new. I like change.

So, here I come!
